About Us

Every week Rotherham Talking Newspaper produces 90 minute audio cassette tape full of local news.

In addition we produce a second "Access" or information tape containing useful information for our Listeners.

On a monthly basis we also produce an audio cassette tape called "The Brooklands File". This is a 90 minute tape full of short stories and interesting articles.

We have a fully equipped studio where volunteers read the newspaper articles which are recorded and edited onto a master tape.

Other volunteers then copy the master tape onto individual tapes which are then packed into plastic pouches.

The pouches are then posted on a weekly and monthly basis to our listeners.

All that is needed to enjoy the service is a basic cassette recorder or cassette based Walkman.

Alternatively any Hi-fi with a tape deck would be suitable.

The service is totally FREE, paid for by donations, and produced almost entirely by volunteers.

In 2007 Rotherham Talking Newspaper celebrated its 25th year.

We currently distribute the cassette tapes to around 500 Listeners every week but we are convinced that there are many many more people who could benefit greatly from our service.

We therefore constantly strive to spread the word "Spread the Word" and make as many people as possible aware of what we do and how they, or someone that they know could become one of our Listeners.
